  • Notes
    • As recounted in information on his father, Pliny was the first of the Lathrops to go West from New York State. There seems to be some ground for his claim that he was in the first group of white people to settle in RichfieldTownship west of Toledo, Pliny was active in Whig party politics, was a delegate to the young men's Whig Convention in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. He helped organize the Richfield Christian Church in 1855. During his life Pliny held many offices: Justice of the Peace, Superintendent and Deputy Superintendent of Schools, and Postmaster.
